Books and Published Materials

The National Equal Justice Library is working to collect a comprehensive collection of published materials on various aspects of civil legal services, public defender programs, and pro-bono movements. The library currently has a collection of over 1,000 books and is beginning to amass a collection of periodicals and other published materials.

In addition to the general collections, there are several named collections within the library that focus on specific areas. For example, the Earl and Barbara Johnson Collection on International Legal Aid focuses on materials related to the history and growth of legal aid services in other countries. The Harriet Wilson Ellis Collection focuses on providing clinical education programs on teaching people about legal aid and indigent defense.
